From the Office of Communications | October 24, 2020

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

Yesterday, we identified a cluster of COVID cases at Village Green. A “cluster” is defined by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as five or more cases within 14 days that are deemed to be in close proximity or location, or are epidemiologically linked.  There are currently six cases in this cluster.

We have completed contact tracing with direct communication to anyone known to have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. All students testing positive as part of this cluster are isolated and close contacts are quarantined.

Let’s continue to diligently work together to help control the spread of the virus:

  • Wear masks covering your nose and mouth

  • Wait 6 feet apart and avoid close contact with others

  • Practice good hygiene by washing your hands or using hand sanitizer

Keep in mind that employees who experience symptoms or believe they may have been exposed to the virus, must follow the guidelines previously shared that require notification to Human Resources. In addition, if it is determined that an employee was potentially exposed to the virus in the WPU community, they will be contacted as soon as possible and provided with guidance regarding their work and presence on campus.

Students experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should immediately contact their medical provider or the Wellness Center at or 919.508-2163.

Thank you for your continued vigilance.
