As senior leadership and the Fall Planning team continue preparing for your return to campus in August, we look forward to being in community with each other again. In case you missed it, you can view the previously announced dates for fall semester at a high level by clicking here. For the full academic calendar, visit this link.
Upon return to campus, all students, faculty and staff, and visitors will be required to follow our new health and safety protocols. This includes, but is not limited to, following hygiene best practices as outlined by the CDC, wearing face coverings indoors and social distancing. Furthermore, while virtual meetings will continue as much as possible, all indoor gatherings will be limited to 10 or fewer participants. All classroom settings will observe social distancing and be reconfigured under new guidelines. Outdoor gatherings are currently limited to 25 participants. These limitations are established by the State of North Carolina and are subject to change. We are planning information sessions later this summer for you to better understand our health and safety protocols and to answer your questions.
For those of you who will live on campus this fall, Residence Life and Housing will implement a phased move-in process Monday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 15. You will be assigned a move-in time and date based on your housing assignment, and are permitted to bring two guests to assist you. Student and staff volunteers will not be deployed this year in order to limit the number of people during the move-in process. The full 2020 Pacer Residential Move-In Schedule is below:
Monday, July 20 – Thursday, Aug. 6: Pacer Essential Belongings Drop-Off
Residents will be able to sign-up to drop off essential belongings in their residential housing space ahead of time. More details will be provided after housing assignments are communicated.
Monday, Aug. 10: Soccer and Volleyball Move-In
Members of WPU’s Men’s and Women’s Soccer and Volleyball teams will be assigned specific move-in times based on their housing assignment.
Wednesday, Aug. 12 – Saturday, Aug. 15: Phased Residential Student Move-In
Remaining residents will follow a phased move-in approach over the course of four days. Students will be assigned specific move-in times based on their housing assignments. Returning students will be assigned a move-in time on either Friday, Aug. 14 or Saturday, Aug. 15.
Additionally, in an effort to provide the best on-campus residential experience that prioritizes the health and safety of the Pacer community, we are significantly increasing the availability of single-residency rooms this fall. The Office of Student Life is communicating directly with residential students about options, but to learn more, email StudentLife@peace.edu.
The University’s decisions have been made with the well-being of our students, faculty, staff and greater Raleigh community at the forefront. We will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC, the State of North Carolina, and Wake County, and make adjustments to our policies, as needed.
I will continue to update you on a bi-weekly basis and as more details are confirmed. Meanwhile, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions on our website and, should you have additional questions, reach out to StudentLife@peace.edu.
Thank you for your perseverance during this challenging time. We want this fall to be an exciting new chapter in your William Peace University story and look forward to seeing you in August.
P.S. I know that many of you have family members who want to be kept in the loop. Please have them sign up for family communications here:https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/gY62bfq/PFPSignup
